When we say we’re pro-life, are we identifying ourselves with a
political group to which we feel safe belonging? Does pro-life only apply to laws about
murder?
God gave Moses His Name and His Commandments. And He warned the Israelites through Moses to
choose life rather than death, blessing rather than curse. To be truly pro-life is to be obedient in
actively effecting God’s Word in all one’s transactions and to take on the
character of that Word, of the Author.
You are what you eat, they say.
Adam and Eve ate of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, and
became wounded. Had they obeyed, they
would have eaten of the Tree of Life instead.
By eating of the Tree of Life, they would have taken on the character of
that Fruit by actively ingesting it, of course, but first by ingesting the act
of obedience itself, which would have made them immutable. It was the act of disobedience that wounded
Adam and Eve, not the fruit because God Himself created the Tree of the
Knowledge of Good and Evil although He told Adam and Eve not to eat it. The food of obedience procures Knowledge of
the Author, which procures Eternal Life.
